There’s nothing like being on the road for a month to remind you of your humanity. Long flights, hours in a car, setting up gear, playing concerts, breaking down gear, eating what you can find along the way, and not getting enough sleep can wear on your body. When I was in my 20’s, this didn’t bother me so much. I’d be a little tired, but there was a certain exhilaration in that road dog mentality. It was easy to hop out of bed and hit the road.

Now that I’m a little more, hmmmm, “mature”, my body is less subtle about how it feels. If I want to perform well, I MUST take care of my investment. On this recent tour, I didn’t have a good cardio option beyond a few jumping jacks and hotel room tabatas. The thing that set me up for my daily greatness was Yoga with Adriene. These free videos start my day with a smile. I can do as little as 10 minutes and as much as an hour and feel great that I’ve done something kind for myself. After that, I can do some cardio, or my breathing exercises, and I’m good to go.

For you, my friend, I want to share a few of my favorite short videos that give extra love to the neck, shoulders, and upper back. Even if you’re not a bassist, you probably get stiff in the neck and arms from computer work and checking your social media feeds on your device. Adriene Mishler leads you through the moves with lots of love and humor. Her YouTube page has all kinds of playlists and yoga videos for everything from feet, to hands, to anxiety, to roller derby teams.

Try out the following videos and let me know which one is your favorite:

If you only have 10 minutes:

This is 17 minutes long:

This one clocks in at 28 minutes, but it is soooooo luscious!

This one is more “yoga-ish”, but I really like how my back and chest feel way more open at the end of this.

I'll sing to you on your birthday!

Seriously. I'll do it. Join my mailing list and you'll also receive the latest news on releases, projects, and tour dates.
