Huey Lewis and the News’ classic gets a fresh dress and the life-affirming vibe that we’re all needing right now.

Bassist and vocalist Kristin Korb announces her new single “The Power of Love” from her forthcoming album WHAT IF?. The album is set for worldwide release on March 26 (DoubleK Music).

Korb’s bass grooves swing deep and hard with her long-time co-conspirators Magnus Hjorth on piano and Snorre Kirk on drums. Her intimate vocal lines soften the harder edges of the original version while maintaining the all the joy. Joining Korb’s trio is the young Danish phenom Mathias Heise on harmonica. Heise’s playing elevates the instrument to new heights and is the perfect complement to Korb’s singing.

Korb’s fresh arrangement of “The Power of Love” was inspired by school music programs that were forced to present their final concerts online. “I was thinking about the poor students who wouldn’t be able to celebrate the end of their high school days with the big concerts that typically signify the end of the school year. When I was in high school, our ‘pops concert’ was an event that we looked forward to every year.” You can hear that tribute to her high school experience in the background vocals that sneak in at the end of the song.

While you won’t be seeing any of the choreography Korb may have designed in high school, she will be connecting with choirs. The background vocals on this track are being expanded this spring to include ensembles from all over the world to make a video. The video release is projected to be in mid-May.
